Section 1.1: RIASEC

The RIASEC refers to a theory of careers, developed by American psychologist John L. Holland specializes in 6 personality types. RIASEC helps students make the right career decisions and its model is here to guide you for career planning.

Realistic (Doers)

As a Doer, you like to work with ''things''. You approach problem solving ''by doing something rather than sitting or thinking about it.'' You are practical and competitive. You prefer physical, outdoor & mechanical tasks.

Investigative (Thinkers)

As a Thinker, you like to work with ''information''. You plan things with your ''observation & understanding.'' You tend to be curious, analytical & independent. Your interests tend to focus on science, technology, theory & information.

Artistic (Creators)

As an Organizer, you like to work with ''data''. You like managing data with precision and accuracy. You tend to be efficient, logical, and unimaginative. You like structure and order and dislike unstructured or unclear work.

Social (Helpers)

As a Helper, you like to work with ''people''. You prefer to work in cooperative environments to improve the lives of other people. You tend to be friendly, cooperative, and sociable. You build social connections with other people.

Enterprising (Persuaders)

As a Persuader, you like to work with ''people and data''. You use your communication skills to persuade/lead others. You are likely to be energetic, ambitious & confident. You like working in positions of power.

Conventional (Organizers)

As a Creator, you like to work with ''ideas''. You explore ''different things and try new ways of experimenting it.'' You tend to be imaginative, emotional, and impractical. You prefer creativity and rebel against ''rules and structure''.
